Screening of Bhatt film disrupted in Rajkot

Ahmedabad, Nov 17: Workers of the Maha Gujarat Janata Party, led by former Gujarat Home Minister Godhan Zadafia, stormed into a theatre, Cosmoplex, in Rajkot and disrupted the screening of Mahesh Bhatt’s latest film Tum Mile.

They were protesting against Bhatt’s son Rahul Bhatt’s alleged links with US terror suspect David Coleman Headley, who is in FBI custody after his arrest for allegedly plotting terror attacks in India for the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).

The theatre, however, resumed the screening of the movie after a while.

Cosmoplex owner Ajay Vagdia said around 50 people rushed into the theatre and created a ruckus. Though the disruption lasted a while, the miscreants were turned out by the security guards and the show resumed, he said.

The MJP has warned of similar action against other Surat theatres screening the movie. Sources said the MJP workers are planning to “enforce” a ban on the movie in Ahmedabad from Tuesday.

The MJP is pressing for a state-wide ban on the film and has asked all cinemas and multiplexes in the state to stop screening the film, starring Emraan Hashmi and Sohail Ali Khan.
