Hyderabad, October 05: In view of the festival season of Dussera and Deepavali, the South Central Railway will be operating a large number of Special Trains on popular routes between various destinations during the month of October 2011.
As many as 16 Special trains would be operated on routes like Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Tirupati, Nagarsol, Mancheiryal, Nanded and Adilabad on specified days. Altogether, these trains would be making 142 trips during October.
In addition 14 long distance Special Trains would be run to destinations like Santragachi (Kolkata), Bhubaneshwar, Ajmer, Kolhapur, Porbandar and Jaipur. These trains would make 62 trips in the month of October.
Further, in view of large numbers of waitlisted passengers on several trains, additional coaches are also being attached on a regular basis to clear waitlist /extra rush of passengers.
According to the SCR spokesperson, additional coaches are being attached on daily basis to trains on popular routes like Venkatadri Express, Narasapur Express, Gautami Express, Yeshwantpur Express, Seshadri Express and Patna Express etc. to name a few.
During the month of September 2011, a total of 880 additional coaches have been attached duly clearing around 50,000 waitlisted passengers which is 53% more compared to the same period of last year. Rs. 1.32 Crores additional revenue was generated due to attaching additional coaches in September 2011.
To take care of the needs of the commuters in Twin Cities, three additional MMTS Services are being run on Lingampalli-Secunderabad-Hyderabad-Lingampalli Circuit on day-to-day need basis.
