SCR reviews HMR Project

Hyderabad, September 24 (Siasat News): General Manager South central Railway, Mr. M S Jayant and officials of SCR held a meeting with metro rail officials at Rail Nilayam on Thursday to discuss the problems that could arise out of the proposed metro rail corridors crossing over railway lines at various places.

HMRL authorities have proposed the elevated metro rail viaduct crossing railway lines at eight locations. Metro Rail Corridor-I, Miyapur-Nampally-LB Nagar (28.87 km with 27 stations) would cross railway lines at Bharatnagar, Lakdi-ka-Pul and Malakpet station areas, which were all found feasible by railway officials.

Metro Rail Corridor-II, Jubilee-RTC cross road- Falaknuma (14.78 km with 16 stations), would cross over the Secunderabad railway station.

HMR managing director expressed inability to incorporate underground crossings into the project and said that HMR would consider the feasibility of alternative overhead crossings suggested by SCR.

Metro Rail Corridor-III, Nagole-Ameerpet-Shilparamam (27.51 km withy 23 stations) has four crossings at Alugaddabavi Bridge (Mettuguda), Chilkalguda Bridge, Oliphanta Bridge and Begumpet station area. All these crossings proposed by HMR authorities were found feasible by SCR with enhanced vertical (height) and span clearances in some cases.

Mr M S Jayant said that SCR was committed to its promise of promoting twin cities and assured its full support for the Hyderabad Metro Rail project.
