Hyderabad, September 28: In view of the ensuing Dassera holidays in the month of October. The South Central Railway has taken several measures to handle the rush of rail traffic.
The SCR would run special trains between important destinations as Secunderabad – Kakinada, Hyderabad – Vishakapatnam, Hyderabad – Santragachi, Secundrabad – Porbandar, Secunderabad – Jaipur, Hyderabad – Ajmer, Hyderabad – Kolhapur, Tirupati – Bhubaneshwar and Tirupati – Shalimar till October 31, 2011, keeping the demands of traffic in view.
Additional coaches would also be attached by various trains on a day-to-day basis wherever possible, as per waiting list position so as to clear the waiting list.
The SCR would also organize Special checks will during the period on the premises of authorized and unauthorized travel agents with the help of local police / Railway Protection Force in order to check / seize / prevent blocking of reservations under fictitious names and subsequent sale of such transferred tickets.
Close watch will be kept on the aspect of connivance of Railway employees with the Reservation Staff in jumping the queue and seeking tickets behind the counter. A watch will also be kept on the Reservation Staff to negate the possibility of their connivance with touts etc.
The SCR will also keep a watch on the activities of touts from CCTV Monitoring Rooms and RPF personnel will be deployed for clearance of the area from these elements. Railway Staff from other departments will be deputed at all Passenger Reservation System (PRS) locations for supervising the queue.
Steps will be taken to curb blocking of accommodation in unreserved coaches by towel spreaders / anti-social elements. It will also ensured that the queue system is implemented on select Mail/Express trains at stations, by deputing Commercial staff as well as Railway Protection Force / Government Railway Police Personnel.
The SCR will also conduct checks to detect fake or forged tickets and resale or reuse of tickets. Steps will be taken to ensure that there is no misuse of various quotas in rail reservation such as Emergency Quota, Road side Quota, Tatkal Quota and Quota kept for on-duty amenities staff in important trains.
The SCR has announced that arrangements will also be made to ensure that the special trains / additional coaches are adequately manned by Ticket Checking staff for passenger convenience.
