Hyderabad, December 3: South Central Railway has initiated the use of modern technology for washing of bedrolls and with this SCR will be self reliant in the area of washing services.
According to details a giant laundry with the cost of 90 lakh rupees has been installed at Kachiguda railway station. This is the second largest laundry in the country. These kind of machines are usually used in five star hotels or in large hospitals.
In the meantime CPRO South Central Railway provided further information in this connection. He informed that special washer had been imported from Spain with the cost of 35.02 lakh rupees to install in modern washing unit and inner instruments with the cost of 3.72 lakh rupees had been brought from America and a drier had been installed.
Kachiguda laundry will work in two shifts and a total of 40 persons will work in the unit. One thousand bedrolls and covers can be washed in one shift, similarly two thousand bedrolls covers and towels can be washed in two shifts.
Travelers had repeatedly complained that bedrolls are placed without ironing however the complaint would be settled with the installation of this laundry.
