SCR celebrates Dr Ambedkar’s Jayanthi

Hyderabad: South Central Railway celebrated the 128th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna, Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, today at SCR Headquarters, Rail Nilayam Auditorium, Secunderabad. Gajanan Mallya, General Manager, South Central Railway was the Chief Guest. John Thomas, Additional General Manager, SCR and other Principal Heads of Departments participated.

Speaking o­n the occassion, Gajanan Mallya stated that Organisational priorities have always remained tuned to the ideals of Baba Saheb Ambedkar o­n Indian Railways. The priority accorded to protect the interests and welfare of the weaker sections and women employees in the Railways, exemplifies the seriousness of our approach. India as a nation has been indebted to him for unifying all under o­ne umbrella of Constitution, by overcoming Caste, Creed, Religion and Communal divide. The Birth anniversary of Baba Saheb provides an opportunity to remember and reflect the thoughts espoused by the greatest leader.

The most visible initiative that Indian Railways has taken to spread the message and ideals of Baba Saheb Ambedkar is the introduction of Samantha Express which connects all places associated with the life and teachings of Baba Saheb, for people to travel and experience.

John Thomas, Additional General Manager, SCR stated that Baba Saheb struggled a lot in his life time but determination made him to achieve the greatest heights. Baba Saheb was instrumental in making the Indian Constitution o­ne of the best in the world. He was also instrumental in mitigating Caste discrimination and achieving liberty and equality to the citizens of India. N.V. Ramana Reddy, Principal Chief Personnel Officer, SCR welcomed the gathering. Anand Bhatia, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division and Arun Jain, Divisional Railway Manager, Hyderabad Division have also spoken o­n the occasion.

V.V. Naik, Zonal President, All India Scheduled Caste & Scheduled Tribes Association; Prabhakar Andrew, President, SCR Employees Sangh; Dr. C.H. Sankara Rao, General Secretary, SCR Mazdoor Union; and Satya Narayana, General Secretary, SCR OBC employees Association spoke o­n the life and contribution of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
