Sanaa, December 19: At least 13 civilians have died in the northern Yemeni province of Saada during Saudi and US air raids against Houthis rebels, while another 34 have been killed in the south during a government military offensive.
According to Shiite Al-Zaydi rebel sources, warplanes from Saudi Arabia carried out over 70 bombings against Jebel al-Dukhan, Jebel al-Rumayh, Jebel al-Madoud, al-Jabiri villages, and other hamlets in the Yemeni border.
Those air attacks, in which 165 air-to-land missiles were launched, took the lives of 13 civilians and wounded a high number of villagers yesterday, confirmed spokespersons from the rebel group rose up against the government of President Ali Abdulah Saleh.
Houthis rebels, whose rebellion started in 2004, reiterated that Saudi military forces launched white phosphorus bombs.
Meanwhile, TV channels reported that Saudi and US air forces intensified their attacks against the Shiite resistance, leaving 120 dead and 44 wounded in Saada in the last few hours, rebel leader Yahya al-Houthi was quoted as saying.
UN organizations, like UNICEF and the High Commissioner for Refugees, as well as other international aid agencies, warned the tragedy that live about 175,000 displaced people as a result of the conflict.
