A science student, she topped in English

New Delhi, June 01: It was a glorious day for the Marathwada Mitramandal College of Commerce (MMCC) as Vishwanjali Gaikwad, a student of the science stream topped in the English language in the Pune division. It is very rarely that the science stream students rank first in languages.

Vishwanjali scored 94 marks in English to set a record. Incidentally, she has scored a 96.33 per cent in the science stream. Vishwanjali’s success is all the more credible since she did not attend any private coaching class.

“I studied for four hours a day and that was enough,” she said. Vishwanjali’s mother Jyoti is a commerce teacher in MMCC Junior College and father Muralidhar is a physical training teacher in the MMCC Senior College. “My parents and teachers in the college helped me a lot,” she said.

Vishwanjali wants to pursue engineering studies now. However, she finally wants a career in the civil services. “It is my dream to become an IAS officer and I have been preparing for the UPSC from class 11 itself,” she added. Vishwanjali’s hobbies include reading books and listening to music.

Vishwanjali also topped the college scoring 96.33 per cent. Principal M D Lawrence congratulated Vishwanjali on her success. “The success has set the right academic tone and spirit for entering into our silver jubilee year,” he said.
