On Friday, private schools in the state sought an increase in the fee structure. The schools contradict the decision of the government to implement GO No. 42 issued in 2010 prescribing an annual fee structure between Rs 9,000 and Rs 12,000.
The school representatives wanted the government to prescribe fees taking into consideration the inflation in the past four years.
According to S. Sreenivas Reddy, president, Telangana Recognised Private School Managements’ Association, “The expenditure incurred to run a school has increased three to four times since 2010 due to increase in salaries, power tariff, property tax etc.”
The representatives met Vikas Raj, Principal Secretary, education. They urged the state to seek income/expenditure statements from every school and prescribe fees accordingly.
