Schools to get MB taps, six eggs to each student: Kadiam

Announcing Mission Bhagiratha water taps to all schools and six eggs per student a week, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari today exhorted Head Masters and Teachers to become role models for the students besides making persistent efforts for better quality education and achieving 100 per cent results.

Srihari, who holds Education portfolio, was addressing a conference of the teachers here and promised to fill posts, address issues and spend more funds to strengthen the education sector. The best teachers, who were getting better results will be felicitated on September 5, he said and offered them due respect. He also appreciated the teachers for working extra hours and on holidays for better results. “Our aim is to provide better education and the students excel with commitment of the teaching fraternity”, he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister said 8,792 posts in the department will be filled by June and TSPSCE will take steps in that direction. “Every school will get tap connections through Mission Bhagiratha and the head masters should pursue the issue. Health and hygiene kits and napkins will be given to girls of 7th to 10 classes, increase toilet facility in schools. Mid day meals was being offered to 23 lakh students and plans are on to cancel power bills of the schools.

“We are spending Rs 200 crore for eggs and steps are on to increase the number of eggs from 3 to 5 or 6 every week and grants will be given for 12 months to the schools. The teachers should work with social responsibility and commitment to roll out the students with knowledge and capabilities. (NSS)
