Karari(Uttar Pradesh), September 14: The students of a school, run by an ex-parliamentarian in Karari, Uttar Pradesh, were punished by partial tonsuring and hair trimming for not abiding by an order recently.
The students of Dr Rizvi Springfield School – headed by an educationist and former NCP Rajya Sabha MP, Dr Akhtar Hasan Rizvi – paid the price for not following the principal’s order for a military style haircut.
The children were asked to get a haircut last week. Those who did not comply within two days were forcibly given haircuts that left them humiliated. Although the treatment shocked parents, many preferred to keep quiet.
But those who complained were in for more dictatorial treatment. Their children were expelled, leaving them virtually stranded in the middle of the academic year. The school authorities remain unrepentant, and even justified the haircuts and the expulsions.
