School staff pays tribute to Nepal earthquake victims in Moradabad

The staff of Bonny Anne Public School in Moradabad held a tribute for the victims of the Nepal earthquake that has claimed over 3,800 lives.

“In our school today, the entire staff held a tribute for all those who have lost their lives in the Nepal earthquake. It was not so intensely felt in our area, but people still got worried,” said Sunita Bhatnagar, principal of the school.

“Apart from this, we will also donate food, clothes and money to organisations so that it can be sent to the victims in Nepal. The money will be deposited in the Prime Minister’s Fund. It will be a donation from the teachers’, parents’ and students’ side,” she added.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a crisis management meeting along with Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.

Saturday’s earthquake , which measured 7.9 on the Richter scale, resulted in the deaths of over 3800 people in Nepal, while 72 people were killed in India.

The calamity, one of the worst in over 80 years, was followed by 55 aftershocks. (ANI)
