School kids throng Raj Bhavan on Children’s Day

Raj Bhavan was the center of attraction for the school children today. As many as 600 children drawn from various schools in the capital city gathered as part of the Children’s Day celebrations where Governor ESL Narasimhan greeted the tiny-tots.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor underlined the importance of imparting quality education to the children. Educational institutions, he said, must be developed as “Saraswathi Nilayams” rather than “Lakshmi Nilayams”. But, these days, many are setting up educational institutions as part of their business ventures which has to be checked, he added.

The Governor moved freely with the children and school teachers and wished them success in pursuit of their studies. He enjoyed the rhymes recited by the tiny-tots. Earlier, elaborate arrangements were made for the Children’s Festival at the Durbar Hall. Special exhibitions were on the display to educate the children. The Birla Planetarium, the Hyderabad Traffic Police and the Nehru Zoo authorities arranged exhibitions, which the children enjoyed the most.

The Governor personally has shown keen interest in the City Traffic models and Birla Science museum models. The Governor appreciated the efforts of the City Traffic Police and felt that more such exhibitions should be organized, particularly in educational institutions to educate the youth to maintain traffic discipline.

City Police Commissioner M. Mahender Reddy took the children around the various exhibits and explained to them about the user-friendly mobile Apps introduced by the city Police. (NSS)
