New Delhi:A group of children had a narrow escape after the van they were travelling in to their school fell in a drain in north Delhi’s Burari area this morning.
The driver of the van, was arrested from the spot, told police that he had picked up the children from their homes and had taken the road behind Harit Vihar, he said.
He lost control over the vehicle and it fell into the drain but nobody was hurt, he added.
“A passerby, who thought van occupants were injured, made a PCR call. But when police reached the spot, they couldn’t find the children who had gone back to their homes but the accused driver was held,” said the officer.
The road next to the drain is very narrow and it’s difficult to navigate the stretch, police said.
