School girl dies while practising Karate

Hyderabad, April 04: A student of Class V died under mysterious circumstances while practising Karate at her school premises in Champapet on Sunday.

The victim, Akshaya, 10, was a student of Krishnaveni Talent School. Her father Venugopal runs a small business unit.

At about 8.30 am on Sunday, Akshaya went to school to attend a Karate class. At around 10.40 am, a school staff called her father to inform that Akshaya suddenly collapsed during the class and was rushed to the nearby Rohini Hospital.

After a preliminary treatment, doctors at the hospital said that the girl had developed respiratory problems and advised her family members to shift her to Apollo Hospital. She was declared brought dead at Apollo Hospital, Kanchanbagh additional inspector A Srinivasa Rao said.

Police said the reasons for her death were yet to be ascertained. However, according to sources, under the guidance of instructor Raju during the Karate session, Akshaya suffered an internal stomach injury while practising the trick of marble slab breaking on the stomach.

Police said that there were no external injuries on the girl’s body. “Her parents said that she did not complain of any stomach pain recently and she was medically fit,” the inspector said.

The body was shifted to Osmania University for a post-mortem and a suspicious death case was registered under section 174 of the CrPC.
