Tirunelveli, August 26: A matriculation school in Anaikulam in the district has been closed for two days from today, since over 40 students applied for sick leave with symptoms of swine flu.
According to officials more than 100 students in the school had been complaining of cold, fever and sore throat for the past few days. Their blood samples had been sent for swine flu test.
Two students, who developed high fever and sore throat, were asked to go on leave two days back.
As more and more students complained of fever, sore throat and cold, they were segregated and asked to sit in separate places.
Attendance of students reduced today forcing the administration to declare holiday for two days.
Meanwhile, the health department officials, who were camping in Valliyur were surveying the entire area to find if swine flu had affected the area.
A special swine flu prevention camp also is being held at Tirunelveli government hospital.
A separate ward also had been created for those having symptoms of swine flu.
