Hyderabad: In the ongoing Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) exams the tenth standard students of Vignana Jyothy Public School in Yousufguda got the wrong question paper.
The school authorities mistakenly gave them the Andhra Pradesh Telugu question paper instead of the one prepared for Telangana candidates which includes lessons about personalities and poets from Telangana.
The school staff, entered the wrong subject code of at least 24 students. They got the Andhra Pradesh Telugu question paper with code 007 instead of Telangana Telugu paper with code 086 which carries total 90 marks, 57 marks were common for both the papers and students could attempt them. The rest of the questions to the tune of 33 marks were on Andhra Pradesh, which students could not answer.
The exam took place on March 13. The parents and students gathered at the school demanding that the management rectify the mistake.
They blamed the school authorities for making the error while registering the paper code with CBSE and not bothering to check it until the day of the examination.
Aruna Kumari, principal of the school, said, “Telugu teacher of our school was entrusted with the responsibility of picking the question paper code given by the CBSE. In this case, the teacher selected question paper code pertaining to Andhra Pradesh whereas our students follow Telangana state Telugu syllabus.”
She added. “We have not received any response from the CBSE as to what can be done now. No action will be taken against the teacher and our focus now is on how to solve the problem.”
J. Poojitha, a parent, said. “We had not gone to police till today as we hoped that the school would solve the issue as the fault was entirely theirs. Attempts to get a response from CBSE in Chennai also failed.”
“The CBSE officials fumed at us, asking us that why were we contacting them while the school had been dodging the matter by putting the blame on the CBSE. Therefore, we finally lodged a complaint with the police,” she said.
