Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari today informed the Assembly during question hour that school assistant posts are district cadre posts and not those of zonal cadre.
Srihari, who is also Education Minister, has clarified that school assistants are considered district level posts and they did not notify the same for zonal cadre. Stating that as per GO 40 the posts of schools assistants appointed since 1992 till recent past are that of district cadre, the minister said promotions will be given to teachers as per norms.
The minister clarified that there was no controversy to offer unified services to 222 school assistants allotted to Telangana out of 480 candidates appointed through Public Service Commission in 1997. “I agree with the argument of members that 222 posts of school assistants should be given direct promotions”, he said. The government was ready to resolve the issues of teachers of aided schools and lecturers, Srihari said. He also said justice will be done to the candidates, who got eligibility and denied appointments during 1998-2012. (NSS)
