Scholarships Directorate opposed by Mr. Babu Khan

Hyderabad, August 11: Mr. Bashiruddin Babu Khan, Former Education and Minorities Affairs Minister wrote a letter to Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Chief Minister of A.P. opposing the proposal to set up a separate Directorate for Minorities Scholarships.

He said that with this act, the students belonging to Minorities would be deprived of their privileges. He reiterated that the Principal Secretary of the Dept. of Social Welfare had submitted proposals twice for assigning the work pertaining to Minorities scholarships to the Directorate of Backward Classes Welfare but the Cabinet sub-committee rejected it.

He told that he is aware of the mentality of the Govt. officials. If this job is entrusted to them, they will deprive the Muslim students. He informed the C.M. that the Dept of Minorities Welfare of A.P. ranks the topmost position in disbursement of scholarships. Every year, A.P. is demanding extra quota for scholarships. This was made possible due to the efficient functioning of Minorities Finance Corporation. The way it has introduced the online registration of scholarship applications brought transparency for which it was awarded by Govt.

He said that if Muslim students are deprived of the scholarships, they will blame the Congress Govt. He advised the C.M. not to incur the wrath of the Muslim Minorities.
