Hyderabad, June 30: The scholarship facility and tuition fee reimbursement will be continued as it is to the students whose family income was not over Rs One lakh per year.
Speaking to mediapersons after the meeting of the Cabinet sub-committee appointed to look into the implementation of fee reimbursement scheme and scholarships, the Minister for Social Welfare, Mr Pilli Subash Chandra Bose, said that they have finalized the recommendations and suggestions to prevent misuse of public funds in a scheme implemented for the benefit of the students. The Cabinet meeting slated to be held on July 1 would discuss the recommendations of the sub-committee and the reforms in the scholarships and tuition fee reimbursement disbursement would be made public. The main recommendation was fixation of student’s family income to get scholarship and tuition fee reimbursement at Rs One lakh, he added.
Claiming that the State government was committed to continue the scholarship and tuition fee reimbursement schemes for the welfare the poor students, Mr Bose made it clear that the intension of the Rosaiah government was to check the misuse of funds and irregularities in the tuition fee reimbursement.
The Minister for Panchayat Raj, Mr Botsa Satyanarayana, said that irrespective of caste and religion, the scholarship and tuition fee reimbursement would be extended to the students whose family income was not more than Rs One lakh. The proposed reforms and changes in the scholarship scheme was only meant to check corruption and irregularities and to withdraw the facility to genuine students.
The Cabinet meeting on July 1 would take up an indepth discussion on the suggestions made by sub-committee, he added.
