It was not long after a big scam was exposed in Minority Finance Corporation that another scam came to the fore in the same department. A scam was unearthed in which it was found that the amount sanctioned by Central government for minority students towards pre-metric scholarships was deposited in benami account.
An attender of finance corporation named Shafi was found involved in the scam. Commissioner minority welfare and managing director minority finance corporation Mr. M A Waheed immediately took action as soon as he learnt about the scam and prevented it from turning into a big scam and handed over the culprits to the police.
It is said that the accused encashed 34 cheques worth Rs 1 lakh 18 thousand by opening benami accounts in various branches of syndicate bank.
