SCCL plans two big projects to raise production

Hyderabad, January 18: The Singareni Collieries Company Ltd. (SCCL) will soon launch two mega long-wall projects, considered to be Asia’s biggest, to enhance bulk production of coal from underground mines.

According to an official press release, one project will be taken up at Adriyala in Ramagundam in Karimnagar district with an estimated capacity of 2.80 tonnes per year and another at Bhupalapalli in Warangal district with a production capacity of 2.747 tonnes.

The SCCL deployed 36 ‘man-riding systems’ in these underground mines for the safety and comfort of workers to reach work places and to reduce their fatigue.

The company has also provided 142 mechanical roof-bolters to prevent roofs of these mines from caving in.

Currently, the SCCL is producing more than 50 million tonnes of coal per year.

Of this, 24 per cent is produced from underground mines. It is much highrer than the national average for UG coal mining which is 11 per cent.
