SC upholds minor girl’s custody to actress wife

New Delhi, April 07: The Supreme Court has upheld the custodial rights of a south Indian film actress Komal Mohan Rayana of her minor daughter and rejected the estranged husband’s argument that she was more concerned with her tinsel town assignments than taking care of the child.

The apex court said the child being a girl would develop better in the mother’s care than the father Mohan Kumar Rayana, a businessman who frequently goes abroad.

The apex court, however, said the husband was entitled to visitation rights as awarded by the matrimonial court and affirmed by the Bombay High Court.

A bench of Justices Altamas Kabir, G S Singhvi and Cyriac Joseph passed the judgement after personally talking to eight- year child Anisha who rather than being hostile to either of the parents wanted them to re-unite.
