SC, ST sub-plan report will be ready by August 15: Dy CM

Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha on Saturday reiterated that the Cabinet Sub-Committee on SC, ST sub-plan would submit its report to the State Government by August 15.

Talking to reporters after the Sub-Committee’s meeting at the State Secretariat, the Deputy Chief Minister said that so far five meetings have been held to review the utilisation of SC, ST funds by various departments. On Saturday, the Sub-Committee reviewed the implementation of social welfare schemes. He said proposals worth Rs 2,609 crore for SCs and Rs 1500 for STs were discussed during the meeting and they would be given a final shape in the next meeting.

Rajanarasimha also announced the Sub-Committee would start holding meetings across the State from next meeting to discuss the SC, ST sub-plan. The first meeting will be held in Visakhapatnam on Thursday and another meeting will be held in the Tribal area of Padiru on Friday. The committee will hold a meeting with the elected representatives and voluntary organisations on Saturday in Kakinada. A national-level workshop will also be organised on the subject in Hyderabad in the third week of July.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the sub-committee has also discussed the recent attacks on Dalits in Lakshmipet. Describing those attacks as organised, he said 11 out of 43 accused involved in those have already been arrested. He said a meeting would be held on Monday to discuss the issue and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy would be briefed about the recommendations after the meeting.

He also informed that a meeting would be held on June 18 to discuss the EAMCET results and rankings.

The Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting was attended by ministers – Erasu Pratap Reddy (Law), Dr J Geetha Reddy (Heavy Industries), P Balaraju (Tribal Welfare) and Kondru Murali (Health). (INN)
