New Delhi, July 10: In a major relief to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, the Supreme Court today declined to stay the installations of statues in Noida.
The court refused to issue a stay order on the installation of Bhaujan Samaj Party supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati’s statues in a Noida park.
A bench of Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan and Justice P. Sathasivam said it would not intervene in the matter.
In its order, the Supreme Court said that the court cannot intervene in such matters until and unless a case of misappropriation of fund is made.
Earlier, the Supreme Court issued show-cause notice to the UP government for allegedly using huge public money to install the statues of CM Mayawati at various places.
The show-cause notice was issued on a PIL petition filed by Ravi Kant, a Supreme Court Advocate.
It is worth mentioning here that Mayawati has already unveiled 15 statues in the last few days. The Opposition parties BJP, Samajwadi Party and Congress slammed the UP government for using public money for statues.
