In a setback to Telangana Government, Supreme Court today quashed a Special Leave Petition challenging Brijesh Kumar Tribunal verdict.
Representing Telangana Government, noted Advocate Vaidyanathan argued that Brijesh Tribunal verdict caused huge loss to the Telangana State. He also said the Tribunal turned down Section 89 as less priority that was incorporated in the Act for project-wise allocation. He pleaded with the apex court to ensure fair distribution of river waters to the four States, including Karnataka and Maharashtra besides two Telugu States. However, Karnataka and Maharashtra opposed the argument. Based on the arguments, the court quashed the SLP stating that the two States can settle the row under Section 84 and apex council. (NSS)
