SC notices to six ministers Noisy scenes Mar Assembly Logjam

The after effects of the Supreme Court notices to six ministers in connection with the Jagan’s assets case continued to reverberate in the State Assembly with the proceedings in the House getting derailed for the third consecutive day on Wednesday.

As a belligerent Telugu Desam members stuck to their demand for the dismissal of the “tainted ministers” and the imperative need for placing the 26 controversial GOs in the House for a discussion, the regular business could not be conducted.

The Speaker Mr. Nadendla Manohar after failing to bring order by appealing to the protesting TDP members, who had surrounded the podium and indulged in sloganeering, adjourned the House twice.

As expected the proceedings of the House was disrupted by the TDP members who rushed to the podium immediately after the Speaker disallowed three adjournment motions moved by TDP, CPM and BJP on various issues.

Even as the TDP members displaying placards began chanting slogans demanding sacking of the ministers who were issued notices by the Supreme Court, the Speaker went ahead to take up the question hour and directed the Minister for Major Industries Dr. J. Geetha Reddy to reply to the first question.

Ironically the Major Industries Minister was one among the six ministers who were issued notices by the SC and as she began reading the answers to the question, the TDP member stepped up their chorus demanding the dismissal of the “tainted” ministers.

Amidst the ruckus and noisy scenes, the Speaker appealed to the TDP members to resume their seats and allow the proceedings to continue peacefully. But his requests was thrown to the winds and the slogan shouting only heightened forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House at 9.07 am, which however dragged for one hour.

When the House reassembled at 10.07 am, the TDP members continued to enact their protest drama near the podium forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House for a second time within three minutes. (NSS).
