New Delhi, May 07: The Supreme Court today issued a notice to BCCI Secretary N Srinivasan, who had stakes in IPL Chennai Super Kings franchise, on a petition filed by former BCCI chief A C Muthiah alleging conflict of interest.
Muthiah, in his petition, has challenged the validity of amendment made in BCCI rules, exempting those who have stakes in the IPL and Champions League from the ban on holding an office in the BCCI.
A bench comprising Justices J M Panchal and R M Lodha issued the notice after hearing the counsel for the petitioner, who contended that IPL governing council meeting could not be called by a man who had stakes in the IPL, namely Srinivasan.
The meeting was called on April 26 to oust Lalit Modi from the post of IPL CEO. However, when Modi indicated that he will attend the governing council meeting he was suspended on April 25 by the BCCI.
