SC issues notice to Government of Rajasthan in Afrazul murder case

New Delhi: Supreme Court issued notice to Govt. of Rajasthan in Afrazul murder case and asked many questions. Hearing the petition of Gul Bahar Bibi, wife of Afrazul, SC asked the Govt. of Rajasthan why the case should not be shifted to some other place and why should it not be probed into by the CBI?
SC also asked why the accused Rahgar should not be shifted to Tihar jail. The two-member bench of SC consisting of Y. Chandrachod and Justice R.M. Shah passed this order. It is scheduled for hearing on 21st Jan 2019. It may be mentioned that Rajasthan now has a Congress Govt.
Fuzail Ayubi, Afrazil’s wife’s advocate, while talking to the reporter of Inquilab, told that a petition was filed in Feb. 2018. Earlier, SC had issued notice to Rajasthan Govt. CBI had filed a counter saying that investigation is in progress by the state agency and hence there is no need for CBI probe. Govt. of Rajasthan did not file any counter.
The advocate told that there were three demands. The first was to conduct inquiry by CBI since the state agency is not trustworthy. The second demand was to arrange the hearing at some other place. It may be noted that during the hearing of Afrazul’s case; communal elements had climbed the court building and had erected the saffron flag. The third demand was to get the video uploaded on WhatsApp should be scrapped.
My. Ayubi said a demand was made to shift the accused to Tihar jail since he had uploaded the video. He questioned that how it is possible for an accused to upload the video while in jail. He hoped that in the next hearing, which is scheduled to be held on 21st Jan 2019, justice would be done.
