New Delhi: The Apex Court on Monday agreed to hear Sanjiv Bhatt’s petition against BJP president Amit Shah in the Gujarat riots case.
Sanjiv Bhatt, the ex IPS officer from Gujarat was recently sacked from his service has moved the Apex Court, seeking
to involve Amit Shah in his petition alleging PM Modi’s role in the 2002 Gujarat riots case.
According to a report published in Sify News, in his petition, Bhatt also sought to involve Journalist Gurumurthy Swaminathan a party in his petition which was filed in 2011.
The petition alleges that Swaminathan was present in a meeting called by the then CM Narendra Modi that decided to allow a Hindu mob to run riot after the 2002 Godhra incident. The ex- IPS officer had filed the petition in 2011 and is pending in court ever since.
Bhatt’s new application seeking to make Amit Shah and Swaminathan party in his petition was mentioned by senior advocates Indira Jaising and Kapil Sibal before a bench headed by Chief Justice of India HL Dattu.
