Appointment of Vice Chancellors for three universities is likely to take place as the Supreme Court reportedly gave its nod to Telangana Government. The Apex Court which heard the petition on Friday is learnt to have given green signal to the state government to go in for appointing the Vice Chancellors as per the guidelines of University Grants Commission (UGC).
Representing the State Government, Attorney General Mukhul Rohatgi informed the court that VC posts will be filled up as per UGC norms and guidelines. However, the petitioner argued against the government alleging that UGC norms are being violated to appoint the VCs. The three-member bench headed by Chief Justice TS Thakur rejected the argument of the petitioner and chided him for misguiding the court. (NSS)
