The Supreme Court has expressed its displeasure at the inaction of the State government on the incidents that occurred in the State High Court during the Telangana agitation. The Apex Court has questioned the State government as to why it had not taken action against lawyers, who had attacked the High Court. “Does the government support rowdyism and goondaism in courts,” the court has questioned the government.
The Supreme Court also questioned why the licenses of those lawyers, who had indulged in vandalism, should not be cancelled. The court also questioned the government whether it would create a situation where judges would have to attend to their duties with helmets on. The Court also asked the government if lawyers, who participated in the agitation were identified and if so, why they were not expelled from the Bar Council.
The court has warned that there might be recurrence of such incidents in the Supreme Court also, if the government does not take action. The Supreme Court has warned that there might be attacks on judges also if the desired judgments were not delivered.
