SC drops Dinakaran’s name for elevation as SC Judge

New Delhi, December 18: The Supreme Court Collegium has finally decided to drop the name of Karnataka High Court Chief Justice P D Dinakaran for elevation to the Supreme Court and has withdrawn its earlier recommendation for the same.

Close on the heels, another Judge Justice Chandra Moli Prasad, who was also recommended for elevation to the Supreme Court, has been held back due to a representation made against him to the Collegium.

Justice Prasad, acting Chief Justice of the Patna High Court was to take oath along with Justice Swatantara Kumar, CJ of the Bombay High Court today.

However, only Justice Kumar was administered the oath of office as SC Judge by Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan.
