The Supreme Court on Friday directed the West Bengal government to give five lakh rupees as compensation to the 20-year-old victim of Birbhum gangrape incident.
This compensation would be given in addition to the already sanctioned 50,000 rupees.
A bench of comprising of Chief Justice P Sathasivam and two others also said that the state government had failed to protect the fundamental right of the victim. (ANI)
