New Delhi, February 21: The private engineering college managements and parents of students heaved a sigh of relief as the Supreme Court directed the state government to clear all arrears of tuition fee to private college managements by July 15.
The Supreme Court rejected government’s petition on Monday through which it had sought extension for clearing fee arrears.
The court directed the state government to clear 25 percent of dues by March 25 and another 25 percent by May 31. The remaining 50 percent should be paid by July 15 to 600 college managements.
The State government which was under pressure from private professional and engineering colleges who had threatened to shut colleges from Feb 24 if it failed to meet their demands, has been asked to pay the amount in three instalments _ the first by the end of March, second by May-end and the last by July 15.
