New Delhi, October 28: The Supreme Court today refused to stay the closure notices issued by MCD to slaughter houses located in the national capital’s Idgah area but said the buffalo livestock business would not be disturbed until next Wednesday.
In effect, the business of selling and purchase of buffaloes would be allowed till next week when the court takes up the issue for further hearing but there would be no slaughter activities at the Idgah which has about 450 butchers and others engaged in the slaughter and sale of meat.
A bench of Justices V S Sirpurkar, Cyriac Joseph and Deepak Verma also sought a response from MCD on a batch of petitions filed by aggrieved butchers and others challenging the closure notice issued by the civic body to them.
