The Supreme Court today decided to examine the plea of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati seeking quashing of criminal proceedings against her in disproportionate assets case.
The BSP supremo is facing allegations of acquiring assets beyond her known sources of income through corrupt means during her tenure as state Chief Minister.
CBI is seeking permission from the apex court to prosecute her on the ground that there is sufficient prima facie evidence to initiate trial against her.
The main allegations against her were that she made hundreds of crores in Taj corridor scam case.
According to her, the case against her is politically motivated and it is an example of the misuse of CBI by UPA government to settle political scores with their political rivals. UNI
