New Delhi, April 03: Karnataka High Court Chief Justice PD Dinakaran, who is facing allegations of corruption, has been advised by the Supreme Court collegium to go on leave.
Justice Dinakaran has not been performing judicial work since December last following allegations that he was involved in land grabbing. Justice Madan B Lokur will take Justice Dinakaran’s place as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka HC after the latter proceeds on leave.
The SC collegium, headed by Chief Justice of India KG Balakrishnan, is reported to have taken the decision amid concerns that in Dinakaran’s absence, judicial work in the HC was suffering.
Justice Dinakaran had stopped taking up cases after a motion was admitted in the Rajya Sabha for Dinkaran’s removal on charges of corruption, land-grab and abuse of judicial office.
Prior to the allegations, the SC collegium had recommended the elevation of Justice Dinakaran as Supreme Court judge in August 2009.
