New Delhi, October 30: The Supreme Court today asked MP Power Trading Company Ltd and Hyderabad-based Lanco Amarkantak Power Pvt Ltd to resolve their dispute through mediation as the PSU has alleged the private company had arbitrarily terminated its contract for supplying electricity to the state.
A Bench headed by Justice R V Raveendran appointed retired Madras high Court judge Justice E Padmanaban as a mediator to resolve the issue.
Earlier, another Bench had declined to restrain Lanco from selling electricity generated from its power plant in Chhattisgarh to parties except Power Grid Corporation of India.
MP Power Trading Co (MPPTC) has challenged the Madhya Pradesh High Court judgment that dismissed its plea on the ground that electricity generation was not a public function.
