Hyderabad: Sayeedabad police arrested, B Santosh alias Santu for mowing down two-year-old Chaitra, at Sayeedabad. Police nabbed the killer vehicle’s driver, on Tuesday with the help of CCTV camera footage.
Two-year-old Chaitra, daughter of A Shravanti and Raju from Vishnu Nagar Colony in Sayeedabad was crushed by a car while she was playing near her house in Vishnu Nagar, Sayeedabad, on Monday morning. The driver had fled the scene after the incident. The child was rushed to a nearby hospital in Champapet, where she was declared brought dead.
Sayeedabad police examined eye-witnesses and also analysed CCTV camera footages from nearby lanes and finally arrested Santosh of Subramanya Nagar Colony in Sayeedabad. Santosh is said to have confessed to have committed the offence and he fled from the accident spot fearing locals might thrash him.
Santosh is the driver of Prakash an insurance company employee. Police arrested him under section 304-A (causing death due to rash or negligent act) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and he would be produced before court on Wednesday.
