New Delhi: PM Modi, while speaking at the inaugural session of ‘100 years of Assocham (Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India)’, claimed that the Indian Central Government has “saved” the country’s economy which was heading towards disaster five to six years ago.
“Five-six years back our economy was heading towards disaster. Our government has not only stabilized it but also made efforts to bring discipline to it. We have paid attention to fulfilling the decades-old demands of the industry,” said PM Modi.
The theme of the event was ‘New India Aspiring for a $5-trillion economy’.
“In the last 5 years, the country has strengthened itself in a major way and thus, we can strive and achieve targets such as the $5 trillion economy target,” Prime Minister said.
Modi’s comment comes at a time when India’s GDP growth rate has slipped to a six-year low of 4.5 percent in the July-September quarter.
