Mangaluru:The bodies of two of the five victims from Dakshina Kannada district who died in the fire accident at the United Petrochemical Company Plant at Jubail in Saudi Arabia on April 16, have been brought here.
The bodies of Karthik Sanil (30), from Kolnadu near Mulki, and Ashraf (30), from Haleyangadi, were brought to the Mangaluru International Airport via Mumbai last evening, district administration officials said.
The bodies were received by their relatives.
Ashraf’s brother and a representative of the company who came from Saudi Arabia had reached the airport yesterday morning, expecting the arrival of the bodies, but they had to wait till evening.
The bodies of the other victims of the tragedy, Konchar Bhaskar Poojary from Bajpe, Balakrishna from Vamanjoor and Vincent Monteiro from Neerumarga are expected to reach the city later today, the sources said.
Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner A B Ibrahim had on April 18 written to the Ministry of External Affairs requesting immediate action for bringing the bodies by contacting the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia.
