Saudi envoy meets OU VC to seek academic cooperation

Dr Saud Al Sati, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, accompanied by former minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir called on Osmania University Vice-Chancellor Prof S Satyanarayana here on Friday.

They discussed the possibilities of academic cooperation between Osmania and Saudi Arabian Institutions of Higher Learning. The Ambassador held discussions with the Vice-Chancellor and other senior officials of the university.

Welcoming the ambassador, the Vice-Chancellor mentioned that Osmania University strongly believed in international cooperation as key to promotion of excellence in higher education in the emerging era of globalization. He expressed his willingness in expanding the ties with Indonesian Institutions of Higher Learning.

The visiting ambassador drew attention to the bilateral academic co-operation agreement between two countries and said that premiere Universities like Osmania should take a lead in this direction. He lauded the significant contributions of 125 year old Dairatul Maarif at Osmania University through editing and publication of rare Arabic manuscripts in different subject areas. He was happy to note that a quite a few students from Saudi Arabia were studying at Osmania University.

The Ambassador reiterated the desire for establishing close ties with Osmania for broadening the contours of higher education. (INN)
