Saudi Aramco needs technical graduates: Official

Dubai, December 09: Young Saudis should study technical and scientific subjects at university to help modernize the country, said Abdul Rahman Bin Fahd Al-Wehaib, Deputy Supreme President of Saudi Aramco for Work Services.

He said subjects such as computer engineering were needed to close the technology gap between the Kingdom and highly-industrialized countries. He made the comment while addressing the Arab Thought Foundation (Fikr 10) being held in Dubai.

To realize this objective, he said Aramco has sent thousands of Saudi youths on scholarships to study modern technology and computer sciences. This was the key to industrial development.

He praised the efforts of the Arab Thought Foundation for concentrating on upgrading the intellectual abilities of Saudi youth. He said the foundation was fully aware of the effective role youth can play, especially at a time when change is sweeping through the Arab world.
