Video: Attack on Saudi Arabian preacher in Philippine

An influential Saudi Arabian preacher was shot and wounded in a southern Philippine city on Tuesday.

According to reports Sheikh Aaidh al-Qarni was in hospital following the shooting in Zamboanga city but did not have life-threatening injuries, local police spokeswoman Senior Inspector Helen Galvez said.

Preacher Aaidh Al-Qarni was about to leave Western Mindanao State University after delivering a lecture when he and religious attache Turki Assaegh were shot by the gunman, Limen Galvez added.

A police report said that Qarni was shot in the right shoulder, left arm and chest while his companion, a Saudi embassy attaché, was wounded in his right thigh and left leg.

A Filipino official quoted by the channel said the preacher was “in good condition,” and is at hospital receiving treatment.

The lone gunman was killed and two suspects arrested in the attack, said the security forces.

It is to be noted that, Sheikh Aaidh al-Qarni is a influential preacher in Saudi Arabia and he wrote many famous books like “Don’t be sad” and “You can be the happiest women in the world”.
