Days after a report claimed that Saudi Arabia was planning to buy nuclear weapons from Pakistan, a defense official of the kingdom dismissed the claims as mere “speculation.”
A report had claimed that Saudi Arabia wanted to purchase an “off the shelf nuclear weapon” from Pakistan to counter Iran after it strikes a nuclear deal with the west. It also quoted an unnamed Pentagon official as alleging that an agreement had been reached between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to move forward on the issue, reported The Express Tribune.
A U.S. State Department official pointed out that Saudi Arabia was a signatory of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty . (ANI)
