Saudi Arabia approves yoga as sports activity

Riyadh: Saudi Ministry of Trade and Industry approved Yoga in Saudi Arabia, listing it under the category of ‘sports activities’ on Tuesday.
The move will allow country’s citizens to practice and propagate Yoga after getting a license from the government, reports India Today.
Indian diplomatic missions on June 21, 2015 had organized Yoga Day in Saudi Arabia’s schools. Nouf Al Marwaai is the first Saudi woman who taught Yoga and is being considered the driving force for ministry’s approval.
Recently, a Muslim girl was allegedly harassed for teaching Yoga in Jharkhand, she was also issued a fatwa by clerics against her.
