Satyam scam: Court adjourns hearing on framing of charges

Hyderabad, August 26: The special court dealing with the multi-crore Satyam Computer scam case today adjourned the hearing on arguments of framing of charges against the ten accused for tomorrow.

After hearing the arguments of two former auditors of PriceWaterhouse (PW), S Gopalakrishnan and his deputy Talluri Srinivas, and two other accused B Suryananarayan Raju and Ch Srisalam, the XXI additional chief metropolitan magistrate (ACMM) adjourned the case.

He said his clients were only the auditors of the IT firm and they did not have any links with the main accused (Satyam founder B Ramalinga Raju) of the scam.

They signed the (auditing) papers submitted by the company management after selective verifications as per the auditors’ guidelines, he said

Raghunathan contended that it is highly impossible to verify each and every figures and they (his clients) are not detectives to find out fault of the management.

Vijayasen Reddy, counsel of Suryanarayana Raju, and B Krishna Rao, lawyer for Srialam, also pleaded before the court that their clients were in no way connected to fudging of accounts of the IT firm.

Meanwhile, the counsel for another accused Vadlamani Srinivas, a former chief financial officer of Satyam, sought time till August 31 for arguments on the charges brought against him by CBI.
