Hyderabad, November 27: The former Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the erstwhile Satyam Computer Services Limited (Satyam) Ramalinga Raju, who was undergoing treatment at the Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) was discharged from the hospital and taken to Chenchalguda Central jail last night.
The authorities had taken Mr Raju the prison, as the XIV Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court at Nampally here, had extended yesterday the judicial remand of the ten accused in the multi-crore scam in the Satyam Computers case, till December nine.
The Judge also posted the plea by Ramalinga Raju’s wife Nandini, offering to bear the expenses for his treatment and seeking his further stay in the hospital and reserved orders for tomorrow.
Earlier, the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) had opposed further hospitalisation of Mr Ramalinga Raju in the NIMS for treatment of Hepatitis C.
The court also took up an argument by Mr Ramalinga Raju’s counsel that the head of Gastroenterology department of NIMS be summoned to verify the claim of the CBI that treatment for the former Chairman was no longer necessary. However, the argument was struck down on CBI’s advice that there was no such provision in the Criminal Procedure Code(CPC).
Mr Raju had been in the hospital for the last 70 days.
