Satyam case: CBI undecided on fourth chargesheet

Hyderabad, July 06: The Central Bureau of Investigation is undecided on filing a fourth charge sheet or not in the multicrore Satyam Computers accounting scam case.

It had already filed three charge sheets in the case and the investigation agency had claimed earlier that it would file another charge sheet on fund diversion to other countries.

The counsel for CBI today informed the special Court that it could not say anything on filing of the fourth charge sheet at this point of time.

He said Letters Rogatory (LR) were sent to six countries seeking assistance to trace some accounts by the accused. The agency is waiting for their reply and based on it the CBI would file another charge sheet.

Counsel for former chairman of Satyam Computers, B Ramalinga Raju, argued that without confirming whether a fourth charge sheet would be filed or not it was unfair to seek permission for video linkage from NIMS to examine Ramalinga Raju. With this, magistrate BVLN Chakravarti ordered the CBI to file an affidavit on the status of the pending investigation and the current state of affairs of the case.

He also instructed the defence counsel to file an affidavit whether Raju can be examined through a questionnaire given by the court.

Raju has been undergoing treatment for Hepatitis-C at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Science (NIMS) here since September last. The court posted the hearing of the case to July 8.
